Anxiety is caused by Negative Thinking. It is not the events in our lives that necessarily cause the perceptions of crisis it is our thought patterns surrounding the events of our life.
Every negative thought that we have is converted into Anxiety. We can create anxiety by negatively forecasting the future. The problem with negatively forecasting is that the mind cannot tell the difference between imagination and reality.
Whilst a healthy amount of anxiety can help motivate us to live our lives, too much anxiety can be very detrimental to our health and wellbeing.

Obsessive Compulsive Disorder
Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) is characterised by repetitive actions that seem impossible to stop. The causes may be due to stressful life events, anxiety or depression.
OCD has two main parts: obsessions and compulsions. Obsessions are unwelcome thoughts, images, urges, worries or doubts that repeatedly appear in your mind. They can make you feel very anxious. Compulsions are repetitive activities that you do to reduce the anxiety caused by the obsession. It could be something like repeatedly checking a door is locked, repeating a specific phrase in your head or checking how your body feels.
In order to understand how OCD manifests and how we can gain control, we need to understand how the brain works and how OCD is created. We have one brain and two minds. The Intellectual Mind and the Primitive/Emotional Mind.
The intellectual mind is the part we use to interact with the world. When we operate from this part of the brain, we generally get things right in life and is usually very positive. It makes a logical and rational assessment of life, is innovative and finds positive solutions.
The primitive/emotional mind is our original primitive part designed to protect us from wild animals and to ensure our survival. The centre and most influential part of the mind is the Amygdala. This is generally referred to as the Fight/Flight/Depression are. This is a vigilant mind and is always looking out for danger, or what it may perceive as danger. It is associated with two other very primitive parts. The Hippocampus, which holds all of our primitive and sometimes inappropriate behavioural experiences and patterns, and the Hypothalamus, which regulates chemical responses in the body and mind.
